With each passing day, it becomes increasingly difficult to find Internet-based companies that haven’t participated in some form of political censorship in recent months. Google, Facebook, Twitter, PayPal, Cloudflare and GoDaddy are all examples of companies that have launched initiatives to combat what they consider to be “hate speech,” which conveniently time and time again just so happens to be conservative content. They have been dubbed “tech tyrants” for their complete disregard of the freedom of speech and their insistence on establishing a hostile online environment.
The most recent company to make this list of tech tyrants is Soundcloud, the audio distribution platform used by millions of radio hosts and aspiring music artists across the country. Recently, Soundcloud removed several Swedish language podcasts from their website after the users vocalized their concerns over mass migration, which is apparently in violation of Soundcloud’s rules against “hate speech.”
“We will not tolerate content that promotes or encourages hatred, discrimination or violence against others based on things like race, cultural identity or ethnic background, religious beliefs, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation,” said an email from Soundcloud that was sent to the Swedish users.
One of these podcasters who was censored by Soundcloud is mass migration critic Ingrid Carlqvist, who wrote on Twitter, “We are starting to get too popular and hence dangerous for the authorities.”
In an interview with Breitbart London, Carlqvist explained, “We have been aware for half a year or so that they would come after us in any way they could,” adding that her use of another podcasting platform, called Spreaker, just two days before being banned may have had something to do with it.
We have reached a point where we must be incredibly skeptical of any company or organization that claims to be taking action against the spread of “hate speech.” Nine times out of ten, the “hate speech” that they are looking to suppress is conservative content, a clear sign that the motives of these companies are more political than anything else.
Just weeks ago, for instance, Gatehouse Media ran an article with the headline “Florida Ranks 2nd highest in U.S. hate groups,” in which they pointed to information from the highly politicized Southern Poverty Law Center to spread fear about conservative organizations
It is an undeniable fact the progressive left has engaged in an all-out war on the freedom of speech, and they are using the excuse that they are simply “combating hate speech” to justify it. Liberty is quickly slipping away from us — the time has come to put an end to the war on free speech.
